Question: Evaluating and solving a technology problem is a high-level objective in Bloom's Taxonomy, as shown earlier in the chapter (Figure 12.1). Teaching someone to troubleshoot is challenging. Not every problem can be described in a step-by-step fashion. Troubleshooting is easier if a technician uses reasoning and takes logical steps. Logical troubleshooting can be broken down into the following six simple steps:
Step 1. Identify the problem.
Step 2. Establish a theory of probable cause (question the obvious).
Step 3. Test the theory to determine the cause.
Step 4. Establish a plan of action to resolve the problem and implement the solution.
Step 5. Verify full system functionality and, if applicable, implement preventive measures.
Step 6. Document findings, actions, and outcomes.
Select 1 of the logical steps to discuss. Describe your selected logical step and mention the importance of that logical step.
