The problem : In a reaction 2A = B + 2C, the initial concentrations for A,B, and C are all .40M. If the Ka = 1.5 x 10^6. What are the equilibrum concentrations? I know that Ka = Prod/Reac, after doing an Ice chart you get 1.5 x 10^6 = (.40 + x)(.40 +x)^2 / (.40 - x)^2, which give you an X^3 term. Is there another way of calculating the problem without getting involved with Imaginary numbers and Real number values for X.
