Instruction:

You will use this case study to help you answer the short answer questions below. Consider a comprehensive assessment of her condition and the relevant patient care, medication treatment and Nursing management. Provide a detailed discussion of COPD anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, conduct a respiratory assessment- document and report your findings, and critically discuss the nursing management of COPD. This task assesses your understanding of comprehensive respiratory assessment of a patient with respiratory condition, your ability to link the signs and symptoms of the condition to the underlying pathophysiology and the relevant nursing management.

- You are required to provide a response to all 4 questions below.

- You need to adhere to UNE general academic writing and presentation; You will need to use short answer format (means you do not need to include an introduction or a conclusion). However, you will need to include a cover page.

- Your discussion should be supported by current literature (Questions 1 & 4 only) and included a minimum of 8 peer reviewed journal articles published in the last 5 years.

- Demonstrate broad research about the topic from peer reviewed resources which are current and follow APA 7th edn style guide for in-text citations and the reference list.

Short answer Questions (Assessment criteria):

1. Provide an in-depth discussion of the pathophysiology of COPD. You must use literature (peer reviewed journal articles) to support your discussion.

2. Document your assessment findings of Nancy using the A to G process. To complete this question, you will need to conduct a respiratory assessment on Nancy, understand normal and abnormal assessment findings, and understand where to document assessment findings using an kto G process. (This question does not require literature to support your response).

3. Handover your assessment findings to your supervising RN using the ISBAR format. You should use any abnormal assessment findings to support your recommendations in the ISBAR tool and in the following question. (This question does not require literature to support your response).

4. Evaluate the nursing management of COPD for Nancy. In this question you should ensure you discuss normal management of COPD, management for Nancy, and critique the pharmacological management for Nancy (discussed in topic 4). You must use literature (peer reviewed journal articles) to support your discussion.
