The course final assignment is a paper that offers a thoughtful, comparative analysis of the theory of the 21st-century organization and the application of the theory to address leadership, global issues, and implications present in a specific context. Throughout the term, you have explored and discussed many aspects of organizations, change, and systems thinking in the context of the 21st-century organization. The focus of this unit is to reflect upon the theories you have studied this term and apply it to the context of a multigenerational 21st-century organization.
OBJECTIVES
To successfully complete this learning unit, you will be expected to:
1. Evaluate the multigenerational workplace in the 21st-century organization.
2. Analyze different generational responses to working in the 21st-century organization, based upon 21st-century organizational management theories.
3. Evaluate how technology may help or hinder multigenerational characteristics of working in a 21st-century organization.
4. Evaluate how multigenerational characteristics of the 21st-century organization add to the complexity of the organization, based upon organizational change theories.
5. Apply 21st-century organizational theory to a multigenerational workplace in the 21st-century organization.
Synthesis Paper
Create a 12 to15 pages synthesis paper that evaluates the multigenerational workplace (including the Baby-Boomer, GenX, and GenY generations). Specifically, address each generation's responses within the 21st-century organization and the multigenerational dimensions found in the organization.
In your synthesis:
- Include how critical thinking can be used to address the multigenerational dimensions.
- Consider how technology may help or hinder these dimensions.
- Use exclusively the 21st-century theories discussed the in the studies from Units 1to 8 (assigned or optional).
- Address issues in leadership, virtual teams, organizational change, and organizational culture and technology.
- Include how multigenerational characteristics add to the complexity of the 21st-century organization.
- Conclude with a reflection about how doctoral program knowledge influences the evaluation of a multigenerational workplace.
