Two rings each have a current I = 1 Amp running through them. One has a radius 1 centimeter, the other 2 centimeter.
a) Place them so they are concentric with each other, both have current in clockwise direction. Obtain the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field at the center of the rings.
b) Rotate the small ring 90o so that from above, you only see the edge that was previously on the right. Obtain the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field at the center of the rings.
c) Rotate the small ring 90o more so that the two rings have currents in opposite directions. Find what does the current have to be of the small loop. (Keep large loop the same) so that the magnetic fields cancel at the center?
d) If an electron was dropped through the center of the rings in part a, find how the electron would be deflected by the magnetic field?
