Introduction - In this assessment, you are required to evaluate the implications of the Treaty of Waitangi and the effects of these implications on business practices in a bi-cultural environment in New Zealand.
Instructions - You will use the same case study on Ngai Tahu Holdings as given in assignment 1 that has been running a business in a bi-cultural business environment and you will be having to carry out the Task Instructions based on this case study.
Task 1 - Internal Environment Impact - analysis
Learning Outcome - Apply appropriate analytical tools to assess actual and potential impact of the internal environment of a selected business organisation to inform strategic planning.
Instructions - This task refers to the impact of the internal environment on the Ngai Tahu Holdings.
1.1 - Consider each of the following areas below, and assess the impact it has on Ngai Tahu Holdings and identify an item, assess its impact and determine the response Ngai Tahu made for each of the four (4) business areas.
a. Business systems
b. Business structure
c. Business Resources
d. Organisational structure
1.2 - Apply a quantitative analytical tool used to measure one area of internal growth of Ngai Tahu. This may be demonstrated from data obtained through the Ngai Tahu official website or any other source.

Task 2 - Managing Key Stakeholders
Learning Outcome - Report the impact of internal and external environments to key stakeholders for efficient and effective performance of business organisation within an operational context.
Instructions - This task is based Ngai Tahu Holdings, a Maori corporate business.
2.1 - Identify any two key internal and any two key external stakeholders that Ngai Tahu have and state the relationship they have with Ngai Tahu Holdings.
2.2 - Define stakeholder engagement for a business organisation.
2.3 - Using one of the internal and one external stakeholders identified in 2.1 above, outline two different engagement methods that may be practised in making them aware impact of the internal and external environment on the business.
2.4 - Write meeting-briefing notes for yourself to present orally to the CEO on the reason for method of engagement chosen in 2.3. Minimum word requirement 120-150 words.
Task 3 - Stakeholder Relationship Management
Learning Outcome - Evaluate the impact of stakeholder relationship management on management practice within operational context in business environment.
Instructions -
3.1 - Identify three (3) reasons for stakeholder relationship management along with three (3) examples of how these have benefitted management practices.
3.2 - Evaluate the effectiveness of Ngai Tahu Holdings Stakeholder Relationship Management (SRM) system specifically looking at them from the following two types of reviews:
Review of their Stakeholder Engagement Profiles (Attitude of the stakeholders).
Review of their Stakeholder Community (people who are networking with Ngai Tahu).
For each of these reviews:
a. Identify two findings.
b. Examine and explain how: 'Effective' is the approach. 'Ineffective' is the approach.
c. Critically analyse and recommend changes needed to ensure that the review is a success in the future. Provide two (2) recommendations.
3.3 - Identify and examine three (3) ways to maintain a sustainable Stakeholder Relationship Management System.
3.4 - Outline the Stakeholder Circle methodology and describe the five steps used to build an evaluative stakeholder relationship management system for use by management.
