Suppose two users in a Direct Sequence-CDMA system have signatures (that is, sequences of chips) given by (1 -1 1 -1) and (1 1 -1 -1), respectively.
(a) Evaluate the correlation between the two signatures.
(b) Sketch the baseband signals for the two users when user 1 sends the bits 011, and user 2 sends the bits 101. Add the signals for the first bit only, and show that the output of the correlator for user 1 is -4, corresponding to a 0, and the output of the correlator for user 2 is 4, corresponding to a 1.
(c) Suppose now that user 2 is assigned the signature (1 -1 1 1). Adding the signals as in part (b), what is the output of the correlator for user 1 for the first bit? Explain the effect of changing the signature in terms of the likelihood of making an error when additional noise and interference is present.
A 10m diameter cylindrical tank is emptied by a constant outflow of 1 m3 /min. A two position controller is used to open and close a fill valve with an open flow of 3 m3 /min. For level control the neutral zone is 1m and the setpoint is 10m.
Two free particles (that is, free to move) with charges +1µC and +3µC are a distance L = 2m apart. A third charge is placed so that the entire system is in equilibrium. Find the location, magnitude, and sign of the third charge.
A balanced three-phase inductive load is supplied in steady state by a balanced three-phase voltage source with a phase voltage of 120Vrms. The load draws a total of 10kW at a power factor of 0.9.
Bob enters a pizza shop and notices there are three different sizes of pizzas available. Sizes are given as the diameter of the pizza in inches. The cost of a pizza is based on the size. Bob would like to know which size of pizza
The purchaser of the motors is guaranteed the option of returning the defectives for repair. If the repair cost is given by 3Y^2 + Y + 2, find the expected repair cost the warehouse owner must be prepared to pay.
An internet access provider (IAP) owns two servers. Each server has a 50% chance of being "down" independently of the other. Fortunately, only one server is necessary to allow the IAP to provide service to its customers
Electricity is distributed from electrical substations to neighborhoods at 15,000 Volts, to a transformer on utility poles near homes, where is it stepped down to 120 Volts for household use.
Select an appropriate QAM signal constellation, carrier frequency, and the roll-off factor of a pulse with a raised cosine spectrum that utilizes the entire frequency band. Sketch the system block diagram and the spectrum of the transmitted signal..
