A planetary probe is designed to drop the vehicle's instrument package from a height of 20 meters above the planet's surface, after the speed of the probe has been brought to zero by a combination parachute rocket system at that height. To cushion the landing, giant air bags surround the package. The mass of the planet is 0.1041 times that of Earth, and the radius of the planet is 0.5624 that of Earth.

(a) Evaluate the acceleration due to gravity at the surface of the planet.

m/s2

(b) How long it takes for the instrument package to fall the last 20 m.

s
