Question: Research topic: ‘Managing across cultures and country borders' is a key feature of HRM in multinational companies (IHRM in multinational context). Identify and examine any three (3) specific issues that are associated with managing across cultures and country borders, taking into consideration and drawing evidence from the cultural context as well as the broader external environment of International HRM. Discuss and recommend International HR processes/practices through which each of these issues can be addressed.

Task description and requirement: Students are required to write a 2,000-word individual report based on the set research topic. Students will be assessed on the following abilities and skills: ability to recognise, critically analyse and discuss the key issues in the topic, providing supporting examples where appropriate; ability to appropriately use reference material in support of arguments; quality of the sources of information used; and referencing skills (e.g. establishing linkages amongst the sources used within the written report).

Chicago Referencing style must be used. Assignments that are unsatisfactorily referenced will not be marked and the students concerned will be notified. The use ofat least 12 different academic sources are expected, to support the arguments and discussion. The use of WIKIPEDIA online encyclopaedia as a source of referencing is not accepted.

Students should be prepared to draw perspectives from different sources; and evaluate relevant scholarly perspectives pertaining to each issue covered.

The report must have the following sections: Introduction, Main Body (with sub-sections/headings), Conclusion and Recommendations and Reference List. It is necessary to include a cover page that states student name , student ID. and the total word count.

In completing the individual written report, students are required to adhere to the following requirements:

a) Referencing: To incorporate the use of a minimum of 12 different academic sources to support the discussion; and use Chicago 17th edition referencing style. Failure to use a minimum of 12 different academic sources will result in a penalty of 0.25 marks per missing source.

b) Word Count: To adhere to the 2000-word limit (with a leeway of +/- 10%). The word count does not include words in the cover page, contents page and the reference list. Failure to adhere to the word count limit will result in a penalty of 0.25 marks for every 20 words over or below the word limit.

c) Structure: To use a formal reportwriting structure: use numbered headings and include the following sections in the report: cover page, contents page, introduction, body of discussion, conclusion, recommendations and reference list.

d) Submission: To submit the assignment via Turnitin on Blackboard under the Assessments tab.

e) Academic Writing:

• To use the conventions of academic writing

• To type the report on white A4 paper with 1.5 spacing; and with a 2.5cm margin at each of the top, bottom, right side and left side of the page.

• To use12 point font for the text (14 point font for headings, if preferred); use of the Times New Roman font is recommended.

• The content of the report should be grammatically correct and well punctuated. A high standard of written English is expected.

• The content of the report should be neatly presented, clear and easy to read.
