Objectives:

3. Evaluate requirements and select appropriate parameters to ensure effective storage management in a database system.

Task # 1 Submit a work proposal for this assignment by the end of week 4th i.e. 5th Nov, 2016 (11:55 pm) which must include:
- Understanding of deliverables - a detail description of deliverables
- General overview of proposed plan - initial understanding of solution for the task-2 to task-4.
- Resources identified

The work proposal must be submitted in a word file through the link available in Moodle.

Task # 2 All companies, which are working in software environment they use 3 tier architecture concepts in their application whether they are working on small projects or large projects. Investigate the following in their computing architecture and discuss the solution in your own words with necessary example(s) and suggestions if any for improvement:

a) Discuss 3 tier architecture with the help of appropriate diagrams and write the advantages of 3 tier architecture over 2-tier architecture.

b) With help of appropriate example discuss Java Thin Client concepts ; which are incorporated in the middleware while implementing the 3- tier application.

Summarize in your own words (not more than one page) the strategy you would adopt in optimizing the overall storage for any database system.

The given white paper is for your reference only and your answer should not include points for a certain database system but it should be a generic one.

Task # 4 Your database lab is a networked lab. Provide the details of parameters that need to be set at database server and client side for proper connectivity between them.

You have to demonstrate the database connectivity having a database server and atleast two clients in the college lab in Week 8th using any database management software of your choice (Oracle, SQL Server etc.) Your solution must include necessary steps and screenshots taken from the clients and server systems.
