Overview

In this assignment, I share two images of that show Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) in practice. You can use images you find on the internet, or you can take photos in your own community. You'll find or take one image that shows good use of CPTED practices and another where CPTED should be used to have a safer space. You'll explain why you chose each image.

Evaluate the locations and scenery for strengths and weaknesses using CPTED strategies. Determine CPTED strategies that may prevent and reduce crime based on structure and location type, and recommend three or more CPTED measures that could be used to reduce crime. Finally, explain how technology can play a role in the overall CPTED strategy.

Include two images in your submission: one that shows good use of CPTED practices and one that shows where CPTED could ave a safer space. For each image, address the following:

• Explain your rationale for selecting each image in terms of the environment's characteristics.
• Identify at least three aspects of the location that would encourage or deter criminal behavior.
• Identify at least three aspects of the scenery that would encourage or deter criminal behavior.
• Recommend three or more nontechnical CPTED measures that could be implemented to deter criminal behavior, and explain why you recommend these measures.
• Explain how technology (the use of cameras, security gates, motion lights, etc.) can be used as CPTED measures to deter crime.
