Write at least five pages, following APA formatting, identifing a test category relevant to a chosen specialization or profession. Within this category, identify three tests and compare and contrast the tests bases on its purpose, sampling procedures, and training.
Introduction
Identify a test category that is relevant to your academic specialization or a related profession. If your specialization or career goals do not involve the use of psychological tests, then you will select a closely related profession in psychology that uses psychological tests (e.g., Clinical, School, Counseling, or Industrial/Organizational psychology). Professionals in the applied behavior analysis field may also administer, score, and interpret psychological tests. The List of Test by Type includes a behavior analytic skills assessment category with a list of standardized tests intended for learners in the Applied Behavior Analysis Specialization.
The List of Tests by Type document identifies the 11 categories you may choose from. They include (1) intelligence/cognitive abilities, (2) achievement/aptitude, (3) personality, (4) behavior, (5) adaptive behavior, (6) neuropsychological, (7) career/business/organization, (8) autism, (9) depression, (10) preschool, and (11) behavior analytic skill assessments. Discuss how the test category is related to your specialization or a related profession. Omit these instructions before submitting your assignment.
Select three tests from the category you selected using the List of Tests by Type document. (Note: If you have an interest in a particular test that is not on this list, then you may, as an option, submit a request to your instructor to include it in your first assignment with two other tests on the list in the same category. Your instructor will review it and determine if you may proceed with including that test in your assignment or recommend that you select three tests from the list. Explain how you think these tests may be useful in your specialization or a related profession. Evaluate how the category and three tests are related to furthering knowledge and skills in your specialization or a related profession. Omit these instructions before submitting your assignment.
[For each of the three tests you selected, address the following:
Purpose for Testing and Content, Skills, and/or Constructs Assessed
Omit these instructions before submitting your assignment} Define the test publisher's purpose for each test. In other words, what are some of the reasons why a test user (i.e., psychologist) administer this test to a client? What content or skills does the test measure (e.g., specific cognitive processes, executive functions, academic skills, adaptive behavior skills, etc.)? What constructs does each test purport to measure (depression, verbal intelligence, personality traits, autism)? Omit these instructions before submitting your assignment.
Evaluate whether the purpose of testing and the content, skills, and/or constructs assessed by each test are appropriate for one's specialization or a related profession. In other words, are these purposes and content, skills, and/or constructs relevant to your specialization and/or a related profession. If so, explain how these tests would be used in your specialization or a related profession. Omit these instructions before submitting your assignment.
Normative Sample, Sampling Procedures, and Intended Population
Describe the characteristics of the normative sample (standardization sample) in terms of age,
race, geographic region, gender, dominant language, etc. What percentage of the normative sample consists of these characteristics (if available). Describe the sampling procedures (random, stratified, stratified-random, purposive, incidental). What was the size of the normative sample?
Evaluate each test's normative sample based on the anticipated populations served by one's specialization or related profession. Does the characteristics of the normative sample of each test adequately match the characteristics of the population that a professional in your specialization or a related field would likely serve? Do you believe that the sample size and procedures were adequate in order to generalize the test results to a population that a professional in your specialization or a related profession would likely assess? Omit these instructions before submitting your assignments.
Test-User Knowledge, Skills, and Training
Describe the training, education, and/or skills required by the test user to administer, score, and interpret the test. Test publisher websites often include information on the qualification needed in order to purchase and use their tests. For example, Pearson Assessments, a large-scale psychological test publisher, has established a level system for test user qualifications based upon the education, training, and expertise needed to purchase, administer, score, and interpret each test. Qualification levels range from qualification level A (no special qualification needed) to qualification level C (a doctorate degree in psychology, education, or a closely related field). Omit these instructions before submitting your assignment.
Evaluate the required knowledge, skills, and training of test users based on the anticipated assessment training required of your specialization or the training of a related profession. Would you a professional in your specialization or a related field be qualified to administer, score, and interpret each test? Omit these instructions before submitting your assignment.
Comparisons and Contrasts of the Three Tests
Compare and contrast the three tests based on the previous sections of the paper. Decide which test is most appropriate based on the information you have reviewed. Explain your choice. Omit these instructions before submitting your assignment.
