Throughout this course we are investigating science and theology as ways of human understating our nature, place and purpose in the Universe, as well as possible interactions between the natural and social sciences and religious beliefs. The approach has been one of traditional scholarship. As the course description states. the aim is to prepare you on the eve of graduation to enter an intelligent encounter, now and in the future, with one of the most salient issues in modern society particularly in contemporary America.
However, there is another, more implicit aim, to challenge your personal and intellectual involvement. To meet this objective, I want you to critically evaluate how a theology explored in his course (e.g., Aquinas, Paley, Schleiermacher, Whitehead, Abrams, Holston, Collins, etc.) or a topic (e.g., evolution, complexity, forgiveness, suffering, hope, etc.) covered in this course and how it is or will be relevant to your personal life, major or intended career.
