A wireless service provider has a bandwidth of 120 kHz available which must be allocated for either voice users, or data users, or both. To serve a voice user a channel with bandwidth of 20 kHz is required, while to serve a data user a channel with 60 kHz bandwidth is required. Thus, the service provider has 3 options: to serve only voice users, in which case a total of 6 voice channels will be available, to serve only data users, in which case a total of 2 data channels will be available, or to provide mixed service with 1 data channel and 3 voice channels. The provider decides to use a time-division system with time slots of fixed duration T in which all service requests (voice and/or data) come in at the beginning of a time slot and last for T seconds. Assume that there are 6 independent voice users and two independent data users in the system. The voice users request a voice channel with probability 0.8 and pay 20 cents if their call is processed, while the data users request a data channel with probability 0.5 and pay $1 if their request is processed. Evaluate the expected revenue that the provider gets in each case (voice users only, data users only, and mixed voice/data service).
Given the narrow audio bandwidth of a telephone transmission facility, a nominal SNR of 56DB and a distortion level of
The voltage on bus 1 is 1.0 per unit (pu) at 30 degrees; the voltage on bus 2 is 0.95 per unit at 5 degrees. The reactance connecting bus 1 to bus 2 is 0.5 per unit Ohms, and the resistance is negligible. a)How much real power (pu) is flowing from ..
An SSB generator has a 9 MHz carrier and is used to pass voice frequencies in the 300- to 3300-Hz range. The lower sideband is selected. What is the approximate center frequency of the filter needed to pass the lower sideband
y[n]=x[n]+0.8x[n-5000]+0.6x[n-8000] a) Find the delay in seconds for each echo if the sampling rate is Fs=10000 Samp/sec. Td1 and Td2 a) Find the unit sample response for the filter written as the sum of delayed unit-samples.
A terrestrial radio link transmits a CDMA signal from a base station using a spreading code with a chip rate of 1.0 Mchips per seconds. The message data rate of the signal is 10 kbps.
We have an amplifier with a 1 MHz bandwidth and a 20 mV input signal. The input noise = 1 mV, output signal 6.0 mV, and output noise = 1 mV. Find: (a) SNR at the input (b) ..
20 SI fibers, 2 km long each, are spliced together for a 40 km link. Each fiber has a loss rate of 1-dB/km and a numerical aperture of 0.24. Each splice adds 0.5 dB of loss. A laser diode has a threshold current of 10 mA and emits at 3 mW/mA rate.
Please list the properties of Discrete Fourier Transform. Explain each property with an example to show what it means physically and explain the physical meaning of Z Transform
The silicon cube you were shown consisted of 4x4x4 unit cells. You were shown one dopant in the silicon cube. Given that the lattice constant of silicon is 0.543 nm. Calculate the dopant density represented by the 4x4x4 silicon cube simulation.
Excitation is provided by a 140-turn, 30 ohm coil. Determine the voltage required to establish a flux density of 1.56T. The reluctance of the magnetic circuit, when operating at this flux density is 768 A-t/Wb.
Define Design with Multiplexer, Design a circuit using one 16 TO 1 multiplexer with W, X,Y,Z on the control inputs
In US, electric wires are classified based on their gauge numbers. The larger the gauge number is, the smaller the diameter of the cross-section of the wire becomes. You are given four different types of wire with gauge numbers 1, 3, 7, and 8.
