Shaping the Future of HR: Strategic Recommendations

Organizational leaders consistently strive to implement strategic human resource (HR) strategies that will elevate the organization to higher levels of profitability and relevance. Shah et al. (2020) found that HR policies significantly impact employee performance. To be competitive, organizations must adopt the appropriate approach to shape the future of HR. This article examines three key suggestions for improving strategic HR practices: predicting the organization's recruitment needs, fostering talent development, and implementing performance management.

Forecasting HR Recruitment Requirements

Evaluating the existing HR requirements allows firms to ascertain the present condition of their human resources in terms of both quality and quantity in order to fulfill both immediate and future demands. Human resource managers should anticipate the number of employees needed in the future based on the projected demands of the firm and the specific skills required to perform planned tasks (Valentine et al., 2020). Efficient HR demand forecasting necessitates continuous collaboration with different departments to understand their future requirements based on workload forecasts.

The Bible provides guidance on the importance of careful planning, as it states, "For which of you, who wishes to construct a tower, does not first take the time to calculate the expenses to ensure that there are sufficient resources to finish it?" The Bible passage referenced is Luke 14:28-30 in the English Standard Version (ESV). This principle emphasizes the importance of strategic planning in the human resources field. Koivunen et al. (2019) highlight the need for HR managers to strategically plan for future recruiting needs. They stress the need for a meticulous selection and engagement process to immediately identify and engage the appropriate people.

Talent Development

Developing talent is essential to ensuring that employees have the necessary skills and abilities to effectively carry out their work duties and make valuable contributions to the organization's achievements. Valentine et al. (2020) emphasize the importance of continuously enhancing workers' knowledge and abilities through training in order to develop competence and dedication. Consistent training and development initiatives guarantee that staff maintain their competitiveness and prevent their abilities from becoming outdated. According to Liaw et al. (2019), training enables employees to excel in their performance and drive significant organizational success.

The cultivation of talent corresponds to the biblical principle of employing innate gifts and talents to enhance the surroundings (Hardy, 1990). Specialized job positions necessitate certain skill sets, and acquiring these talents through training guarantees that individuals attain expertise in their designated responsibilities.

HR Performance Management

Performance management is a strategic human resources approach that allows firms to evaluate employee performance in order to determine if they have achieved key performance indicators (Valentine et al., 2020). This method enables managers to deliberately evaluate performance outcomes and determine how people can contribute to organizational success. Performance management and assessment systems enable managers to assess the degree of adherence to performance standards, enhancing employee morale and fostering improved performance (Cespedes, 2022).

God's directives to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, when they established explicit performance standards, clearly demonstrate the biblical viewpoint on performance evaluation (Keller, 2012). We can extrapolate 2 Corinthians 13:5's promotion of self-reflection to achieve congruence with spiritual and performance objectives to enhance employee efficacy and organizational triumph in a professional setting.

Conclusion

To stay relevant in the future, firms must realign their HR processes to align with present and future business requirements. Efficient strategizing is crucial for equipping personnel to fulfill organizational requirements and facilitate transformative progress toward achieving success. Shah et al. (2020) found that effective HR practices can decrease employee turnover intentions and promote a productive atmosphere, underscoring the significance of strategic HR management in enhancing organizational performance.
