Cloud Computing
Purpose:
• Evaluate economic dimension of cloud computing.
• Analyse the global infrastructure for cloud computing.
• Evaluate cloud core services including compute, storage, Virtual Private Cloud, databases, Elastic Load Balancing and other services.
• Apply fundamental cloud architecture and security concepts to the design of cloud solutions.
Cloud Infrastructure Design
TPL Media is a small to medium-sized Australian company which has branch offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. The core business of TPL is online news and online photo/video sharing. Currently, TPL owns and maintains it corporate network which consists of 10 subnets and 2 private data centers (one in Sydney and one in Perth). TPL's IT infrastructure can be summarised as shown in Table 1.

TPL management is under pressure to cut expenditure on IT infrastructure after the company has been hit hard by COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, TPL management has decided to migrate its infrastructure to cloud as much as possible. As a cloud system engineer, you have been hired to propose a cloud design for TPL. Your design should include following:
Question 1. A network topology showing the new infrastructure design.
Question 2. A table to show mapping of existing services to cloud-based services. For example, on-prem servers can be replaced by EC2 instances, subnets can be replaced by VPC, etc.
Question 3. Detailed explanation of the proposed migration process.
Question 4. Discuss the benefits of migration to cloud-based infrastructure, with regard to TPL's IT infrastructure.
Question 5. Conduct a cost analysis to show the estimated cost saving that can be achieved in the first year. Make reasonable assumptions if you do not have enough information to carry out the cost analysis.
This is a group assignment. Please form a group of 3-4 students to work on the assignment as a team. You are not limited to use a particular cloud service provider (CSP). For example, you can use Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, etc., but do not use cloud services from different CSPs in the same environment. It is a bad idea to use mixed CSPs in a corporate network design, as interoperability is not currently supported by major CSPs.
Prepare a report to describe your design. Format your report in a proper format, with an opening section called Introduction and a closing section called Conclusion (or Summary). Submit a report of no more than 3,000 words (excluding references).
