LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Critically evaluate different Project Management methods and select which is appropriate to apply to a specific project.
2. Apply a Project Management approach, demonstrating leadership skills within a team environment, to deliver a sophisticated IT system.
Requirements
Based on the following scenario create a Project Plan using the template included. Please note the Project Plan template must be used. Please label any reasonable assumptions made in the Project Plan. Provide a bibliographic list of sources of information used in producing this Project Plan and citations to information sources following the QUT Cite guide.The marks awarded are basedon the Assessment criteria sheet in Appendix A.
Based on the scenario below select either a DSDM or PRINCE2 Project Management methodology. You will need to justify your decision in the report. Usingyour selected Project Management methodand associated techniques to complete the Project Plan sections.It is essential that the appropriate technique be correctly identified and applied.

Online Lawyers
Lawyers generate income via fees to their clients. Lawyers generally have to account for their time to their employer and typically charge their clients by the minute. Access to good lawyers is expensive. One law firm (Alpha Law) is considering a new scalable business model similar to Uber, Airtasker, and Airbnb. To ensure the quality of legal services provided the case lawyer managing the case must have a senior lawyer review the case on a weekly basis and validate the advice given. In addition to this, Alpha Law will appoint an ombudsman to resolve any lawyer client issues. Client and case security and confidentiality are essential.
With this vision, they have hired you as an Information System (IS) consultant/Project Manager to develop a feasible project plan to implement a solution as soon as possible. The project is to develop a digital service which can be accessed anywhere at any time to provide legal services to clients. Using this digital service a client can review and request any of the available Alpha Law case lawyers. If the client does not request a case layer then Alpha Law will recommend three available case lawyers to the client.The client may select one.
Initially, each client must complete an online questionnaire. The case lawyer will conduct an initial online meeting. The case lawyer will then prepare a case agreement for the client describing the legal services provided and an initial quote. The client will sign the case agreement for the legal work to commence.
An un-prioritised list of some of the requirements is listed as follows. As anIS consultant/Project Manager, you are expected to add five (5) more requirements to this list.
All clients requiring law services should able to;
• Register and complete the online questionnaire.
• Review available case lawyers and select an available case lawyer.
• Schedule the initial online meeting.
• View and sign case agreement.
• Send / Receive documents securely.
• Transaction log of all client interactions.
• Complete satisfaction surveys to rate case lawyer against the quality of legal service metrics. Quality of legal service metrics includes aggregate client ratings, success rates, comparative cost analysis, etc. As a consultant,propose additional quality of law service metrics.
Case lawyer will need to;
• Register and list their legal services, qualifications, skills, experience, and past testimonials.
• Schedule their availability for new legal cases.
• Create/Edit/Delete case agreement.
• Add/Edit case notes including any decisions.
• Transaction log of all case lawyer actions.
A senior lawyer reviewing the case and an Ombudsman need the ability to see the summary of new, active and closed cases for the given period
• Senior lawyer access to perform quality audits on case lawyers.
• Ombudsman access to mediate and settle lawyer/client issues/disputes.
The scenario above is intentionally brief and vague. Clearly label your reasonable assumptions in the Project Plan.ProjectPlan template

Revision history
Provide a history of the changes you made to the document after receiving feedback from project stakeholders, tutors and/or peers. Revision history should include the version number, date revised and revision comments (i.e. justification and summary of what has changed).
1. Business driver
Why are we here?
Explain the business problem, need, improvement, or opportunity the project is aiming to resolve. Also, explain the (possible) impact of NOT doing the project.
2. Project objectives
What's to be delivered?
Define what product(s) you plan to deliver addressing aspects like:
• Competitive advantages
• Future potential
• Enabling more efficient processes
• Integration with current systems
3. Business benefits
What are the benefits?
Explain what business benefits are expected to be realised and the key deliverable(s). Use the following SMART acronym to describe each business benefit. SMART acronym description:
• Specific - target a specific area of improvements;
• Measurable - quantify or at least suggest an indicator of progress;
• Assignable - specify who is responsible for realising the business benefits;
• Realistic - state what business benefits that can be realistically achieved given the
available resources;
• Time-related - specify when the result(s) can be achieved.
4. Defining the scope
What's in, what's out or what's still unclear?
Identify and define what is in scope, out of scope, and what's not yet clear. This also includes initial planning. Based on your selected Project Management method use the appropriate techniques listed in the following table.
PRINCE2 Scope statement
Product based planning using a Product breakdown structure (PBS) and a Product flow diagram (PFD)
Work breakdown structure (WBS)
Task table including precedence table with duration estimating.
Network diagram and critical path.
DSDM High-level scope statements
Prioritised Requirements List
User Stories
Relative size estimating,
MoSCoW
5. Justify the chosen methodology
Why is the chosen methodology most appropriate?
Explain with some detail why the selected methodology is the most appropriate.
6. Key stakeholders
Who is involved?
Identify the project team members and stakeholders and define their roles and responsibilities possibly visualising this with project organisation diagram. Ensure you use the correct project role names based on your selected Project Management method. Ensure you have considered internal and external stakeholders.
7. Outline solution
Show the solution!
Design ahigh-level system model of the solution with just enough detail. For example a context diagram with a description.
8. Key risks
What keeps us up at night!
List the key project risks (aka threats) with a probability of eventuating and possible impact. Prepare a risk matrix that includes impact and likelihood. Also, explain how you plan to manage your risks given the four potential strategies you have available:
1. Avoid risk - change the plan to circumvent the problem;
2. Mitigate risk - reduce the probability and/or impact through planned actions;
3. Accept risk - take the chance and possible consequences of the threat happening;
4. Transfer risk - outsource the risk to a third party either through insurance or by outsourcing the responsibility.
Those using DSDM Project Management include a completed PAQ in the Appendix.
9. Delivery and release planning
When will it happen!
Plan the delivery in terms of timeframes, people and other resources. Based on your selected Project Management method use the appropriate techniques listed in the following table.
PRINCE2 Gantt chart.
DSDM Project deployment plan
Timeboxes
10. Project control
How is it controlled!
Define the controls you will implement for your project to demonstrate project control to your stakeholders. Describe how as a Project Manager you ensure your project is on track. Based on your selected Project Management method describe the techniques used to manage each of the following;
• Trade-off between the project variables scope, time and budget;
• Ensure product quality during development;
• Tracking of project progress;
• Ongoing business case justification.
11. Project costs
How much does it cost?
Consider project budget and procurement of resources. Include an appropriately formatted financial spreadsheet to present the budget.Specify how much the project will cost and clarify cost elements like:
• Breakdown of cost estimates including the costs for people and other project expenses like hardware/software licenses, travel expenses, etc.;
• Planned contingencies (buffers) to cover identified delivery risks (note how contingency is applied differently in DSDM);
• What (incremental) funding is planned.
