Task: Report on youth justice initiatives and theories

You have been asked to represent the charity on a panel that advises the government about youth crime. The government would like feedback on their current policy and initiatives and whether they are likely to be effective in reducing youth crime, particularly when considering the theoretical basis of the causes of youth crime.

In your report you should select two theories (Functionalism theory and Strain theory ) which seek to explain youth crime and evaluate current government policy and initiatives in relation to youth justice using these two theories. For example:

Does the policy and initiatives address the causes of youth crime as explained by the theory?
According to the theory, how successful are the policy and initiatives likely to be?
Is there existing data or research that has informed the government's policy and initiatives, how does this fit in with the theory? Does it cast doubt on whether the theory provides a good explanation for the causes of youth crime or demonstrate limitations in the theory? (<- this is important, as you need to make sure you evaluate the two theories) in the report I need follow a logical structure. I need to use headings. I need to organise the report by theory or by government policy or initiative.

I need to end the report with a recommendations section. This should advise the government on whether to continue with their current policy and initiatives, or other policy or initiatives that should be implemented. i should justify my recommendations with reference to the theories i have used.
