NEWS EXCERPT 1:

'Post Fiji lost about 82 per cent of their revenue when the COVID-19 pandemic made its way into Fiji in 2020.' - The CEO of Post Fiji, Anirudha Bansod stated that "We really went into the panic situation of what needs to be done in order to absorb the losses,". Mr Bansod said they had to re-strategise and diversify their business concept because the parcels, letters had stopped coming. "Over the years, we sold postal products and stationery products, of which the latter is seasonal. He added, "We filled up our shelves with groceries that served as a mini-mart concept catering to the community at the most competitive prices,". He said the mini-mart concept received a positive widespread response, especially from the maritime islands.

"We also linked up with insurance companies with the focus to increase our revenue as much as we could." Mr Bansod said the postal business was one of the toughest businesses to operate in the new era, with COVID-19 and drastically changing consumer behaviour, the two major drawbacks. "Post Fiji has one of the widest distribution networks in the whole of Fiji and we are exploring ways on how to utilise it to the maximum level." (Fijitimes article by Navnesh Reddy).

'The change in consumer behaviour due to COVID-19 continues to affect businesses such as postal services.'- Post Fiji Chief Executive, Anirudha Bansod says with borders still closed, Fijians are relying more on online services for purchasing and mailing. He adds current technological innovation during this time has greatly affected their revenue but they remain positive in diversifying their services. "As any business, Post Fiji has and is still going through tough times during this pandemic. When the flights stopped and borders closed and that's eventually when our mail stopped as well. Post Fiji business has become a bit difficult over that. This has affected postal services severely and our revenue has little bit dropped."
