Written portfolio item 4 - Article for the UniSA Field Education Practice Journal - 1,000 words
Purpose
To practise writing a professional article
To identify and promote the work social work students do on placement
To provide a forum to discuss practice-based issues and experiences
Steps
1. Complete a 100-word abstract to present to your tutor about the proposed article
2. Explain briefly the problem, situation, experience or issue you are writing about
3. Identify the purpose of your article, e.g. to explain something that you did that could be valuable to others, to raise an issue for discussion, to explore a concern
4. You can use ‘I' if it is appropriate for your article.
5. Your writing needs to be clear and stem from a problem, situation, experience or issue that arises from practice.
6. You can discuss with your tutor whether you need agency permission to release the article. You must choose an item that can be submitted for the journal
7. The articles will be stored online and available for future student use.
8. You can choose to be anonymous online.
The aim of this project is to research something that is relevant to your placement and your agency. It is not primary research and will not require ethics approval.
The purpose of this portfolio item is to give something back to the agency and/or to the profession. You can be creative.
It would be great to have a collection of these reports to promote the work of UniSA students on placement. To do this we need you to have your agency approval and to ensure that the reports do not breach confidentiality.
