Purpose - This document represents the main assessment instrument for the unit of competency BSBSUS401-Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices

Project
Task 1 - You should investigate and report on current resource uses and sustainability practices.
Task 2 - Role play: Consult stakeholders - You should conduct a meeting with the other chef and the restaurant manager of Acumen Restaurant.
Task 3 - You should prepare an implementation plan for the updated targets and actions you have decided with your colleagues (based on Task 2).
Task 4 - You should prepare cost benefit analysis for food waste management
Task 5 - Monitor implementation - You should draft an email to all kitchen staff advising them of the ways in which the sustainability plan will impact them in the workplace.
Task 6 - Monitor implementation - In Part A- Compare the results to the targets you had set in Tasks 1, 2 and 3. Then, conduct another meeting with the chef and restaurant manager (whom you had met with in Task 2) and discuss the 3 month results of your sustainability plan.
Task 6 - Part B - Based on your meeting with your colleagues in Task 6a, update the implementation plan you had prepared in Task 3.
Task 7 - Promote and reward successful performance -Draft an email to all staff advising them of the success you have had with improving water use and reducing wastage.
Assessment - Project
Instructions for Students:
This is the second of the two assessment tasks you must complete satisfactorily to be deemed competent in this unit.
In this task, you must demonstrate your ability to analyse information from a range of sources to identify current procedures, practices and compliance requirements in relation to environmental and resource sustainability consult and communicate with relevant stakeholders to seek input and encourage engagement with developing and implementing sustainability improvements, encourage feedback and suggestions and report on outcomes plan and organise work group activities to:
measure current resource usage
solve problems and generate ideas for improvements
evaluate and implement strategies to improve resource usage
plan, implement and integrate improvements into operations
meet environmental requirements
apply continuous improvement approach to sustainability performance
apply change management techniques to support sustainability performance

There are 7 parts to this assessment.
In Task 1 - You should investigate and report on current resource uses and sustainability practices. Your report must be no longer than 500 words. This can be completed in your own time.
In Task 2 - Role play: Consult stakeholders - You should conduct a meeting with the other chef and the restaurant manager of Acumen Restaurant. This will be conducted in classtime.
In Task 3 - You should prepare an implementation plan for the updated targets and actions you have decided with your colleagues (based on Task 2). This can be completed in your own time.
In Task 4 - You should prepare cost benefit analysis for food waste management

Assessment 2 - Project
Instructions for Students
This is the second of the three assessment tasks you must complete satisfactorily to be deemed competent in this unit.
Read the scenario carefully.
This project comprises of 3 tasks.
Task 1 is a role-play in which you are required to meet with the manager of the aged care centre (Assessor) to discuss the needs for the lunch menus. This will be conducted in class time at Acumen.
Task 2 has 2 parts. In part A, you are required to prepare a proposal for two cyclical lunch menus. In part B, you should design a questionnaire for the residents to get their feedback about the quality of your menu. This should be completed in your own time.
In task 3, you are required to revise the menus based on the feedback from the centre staff and prepare a draft email covering note to the centre manager, discussing the feedback you have received, and the actions you have taken/ will take to address the feedback. This should be completed in your own time.
Your assessor will observe you performing task 1 and record and assess your performance in the role-play observation Checklist. Review the performance checklist so that you are familiar with the behaviours that you are expected to perform during the observation.
Your assessor will record and assess your performance in task 2 and 3 using the performance checklist and assessment outcome for the tasks.
Clearly label your work with name, unit code and unit title to all the documents and sheets that are attached to your submission.

Assessment 3 - Project
Instructions for Students
This is the third of the three assessment tasks you must complete satisfactorily to be deemed competent in this unit.
Read the scenario carefully.
This project comprises of 4 tasks.
Task 1 is a role-play in which you are required to meet with the manager (Assessor) of the child care centre to discuss the needs for the lunch menu. This will be conducted in class time at Acumen.
Task 2 is project in which you are required to prepare a proposal for cyclical lunch menu for the child care centre. This should be completed in your own time.
Task 3 is a role-play in which you must meet with two educators (staff who are responsible for the children's care and learning) (role-played by Assessor and people nominated by your assessor) at the child care centre, to get their feedback and suggestions about the menu. This will be conducted in class time at Acumen.
In task 4, you are required to revise the menu in order to incorporate the suggestions and feedback. This should be completed in your own time.
Your assessor will observe you performing task 1 and 3 and record and assess your performance in the role-play observation Checklist. Review the checklist so that you are familiar with the behaviours that you are expected to perform during the observation.
Your assessor will record and assess your performance in task 2 and 4 using the performance checklist and assessment outcome for the tasks.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide on-the-job coaching to colleagues. It requires the ability to explain and demonstrate specific skills, knowledge and procedures and monitor the progress of colleagues until they are able to operate independently of the coach.
Review workplace documentation completed by colleague.
Use active listening and open questioning techniques to confirm understanding.
Calculate adequate time required for coaching and for the colleague to complete required tasks.
Complete own work tasks within designated timeframes and simultaneously coach others in their job skills.
The unit applies to experienced operational personnel and to supervisors and managers who informally train other people in new workplace skills and procedures.
Assessment - Case study and role-plays
Instructions for Students:
This is the second of two assessment tasks you must complete satisfactorily to be deemed competent in this unit.
In this task, you must prepare, deliver and monitor coaching to four colleagues. There are five parts to this task and you must complete all parts.
Read the Assessment description carefully.
Assessment may be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
Coaching plans and follow up reports in this assessment can be completed in your own time, outside the classroom. However, Role plays must be completed in class.
The duration of each role play in Part A of the task will be on longer than 10 minutes.
The duration of each role play in Part C of the task will be on longer than 15 minutes.
The duration of each role play in Part D of the task will be on longer than 10 minutes.
Your assessor will observe you performing the role plays in this task and record and assess your performance in the Role Play Observation Checklists for this task.
Coaching plans and follow up reports must be submitted as typed documents, as hard copy or electronically.
