Assessment Task : Weekly online blog
As you progress through this unit, it is essential that you network with other professionals and with other students in your online task.
Therefore, each week you will be required to blog about your research and experiences(minimum of 200 words for each blog).
When completing each blog, you can add video, images or links to relevant and interesting websites or sources of information that would be beneficial for your future learning and development and that of your fellow students. Just remember that you must reference your source
You MUST post on the Discussion Post the link to your blog each week.
You MUST then read another student’s blog and provide feedback on this blog and cut and paste your feedback and place this in the
Discussion Post (Approximately 100 words)
At the conclusion of the 6 weeks, you MUST place all your blogs in one word format document and also the comments/feedback you made on other student’s blogs and place in the Drop-Box together with your Assessment Task coversheet.
You MUST attach a reference list for each weekly blog using Harvard Style Referencing.
Finally, in each blog, you must reference your sources using Harvard Style Referencing, including in-text referencing.
TOPICS
1 – Organisational goals and objectives
We are looking at the concept of organisational goals and objectives and how they impact on you in the workplace.
Choose a legal organisation that states their goals (can come in the form of mission and vision statements) and discuss how your current skill set meets or does not meet the organisation’s goals.
Evaluate the skills you have that match the organisation’s goals and what skills you have to develop in order to meet their needs.
2 – New Position for you
Identify a current job of interest within the legal system that you find advertised either on SEEK or other similar online advertising site.
Paste a link to this job in this week’s blog. Explain your reasons for finding this position appealing
Identify and explain any gaps in your skills and knowledge at present with regard to this job description.
Explain and justify how you would address your professional development needs to gain the training to undertake the duties for this position?
3 –CDP
Continuing Professional Development (CDP) is imperative in most professions.
Identify two professions that require continuous development by the professionals in their industry and explain what the requirements are to allow the professionals to remain current and able to work in their areas.
Use Lawyers/Solicitors as one of your industries and refering to your State/Territory, outline their CPD requirements that are to be met to enable them to continue to practice. Explain what is available for them to complete the requirements.
4 –Learning Styles
Evaluate and describe your personal learning style. Describe whether you an auditory, visual or kinaesthetic learner. Explain a range of activities that would best suit the learning style you have determined to be your personal learning style.
5 – Cyber Legal Firms
Identify three legal services in your State or Territory using their website information only.
- One legal service must be a government funded or not for profit legal service (eg Legal Aid, Community Legal Centre etc)
- The other must be a high profile and well known private law firm (eg one of the personal injuries law firms)
- The third must be a local small boutique or general practice suburban/country firm.
List differences can you identify with the information they provide for prospective clients.
Provide suggestions for improvement that you have identified after reviewing their site.
6 – Your own experience of professional practice
Choose an experience from our personal life, where you have applied personal/professional practice to the role that you were in at the time.
Explain whether it was something that you planned and completed, or if you were in a school/work or other environment, where the need for professional practice was required.
It could be something similar to you working as a cashier at the local Petrol station and the rules you had to follow to ensure that all monetary transactions were accurate.
