During trading in foreign exchange markets this morning, the exchange rate between the U.S. dollar (USD) and the euro (EUR) changed from $1.1579 per euro (EUR/USD = $1.1579) to $1.1602 per euro (EUR/USD = $1.1602). We can say that: (a) the euro devalued relative to the dollar; (b) the dollar devalued relative to the euro; (c) the dollar depreciated relative to the euro; (d) the dollar lost value relative to the price of an ounce of gold.
