ETHICS PAPER - PUBIC ADMINISTRATION

Assignment Instructions:

Produce a brief analysis and evaluation of the role that ethics and leadership play in public administration, and your agency (Administration on Aging). The analysis and evaluation must contain each of the elements identified under assignment requirements below.

Assignment requirements:

Prepare a 4-5 page analysis and evaluation of the role ethics plays in public administration leadership in which you do the following:

• Explain and differentiate between the concepts of ethics and morals, and then analyze the roles that they play in the actions of individual leaders .
• Identify a high profile public servant who has experienced an ethical failing covered in the mainstream media within the past six months.
• Analyze and evaluate the concepts of ethics and morals with regard to this public servant.
• Evaluate the social and ethical implications of decisions made in the public interest by this leader.
• Apply principles of leadership change to improve governance and management of public policy to the fallen public servant.
• Length should be 4-5 pages, excluding cover page and references; typed double spaced in 10-12 point font (Arial, Courier, and Times New Roman are acceptable).
• Use proper APA style throughout and citations and references for the paper.
• Assignment should follow the conventions of Standard American English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.).
• Writing should be well ordered, logical and unified, as well as original and insightful.
• Work should display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics.
• Appropriate citation style should be followed.

You are to draw upon at least five peer-reviewed articles that you identify from the internet.  These articles should be written by leaders in the field of public administration, as they explore the topics of ethics, leadership in the field, and change governance and management in public administration.
