1. According to Peter Drucker, "Innovation is the effort to create purposeful, focused change in an enterprise's economic or social potential." In the light of this statement, demonstrate the need for companies to innovate in the unpredictable global business environment.
2. Atsutoshi Nishida, president and CEO of Toshiba, said, "We will continue to win in the market place by promoting continuous innovation for the better in all aspects of our business: from R&D and promotion, through to marketing and sales and services."2 (2nd introductory quote of the case study). Analyze how Toshiba leveraged on its innovation strategies to become one of the leading companies in the global consumer electronics industry.
3. Ken Amann, director of research, CIMdata3 , said, "Quick commoditization, especially in consumer markets, is the main culprit. As a product technology matures and unit prices drop, it gets difficult to tell rival products apart, and they're often purchased based solely on features, functions, and price, with little in the way of brand loyalty."4 In the light of this statement,
