A leadership framework is an organized set of ideas that help you understand the roles of leaders and followers in different leadership situations for you to perform your own leadership and follower roles and help others to perform their leadership and followership roles.

A framework guides behavior and is a compass in tough situations. Consider the Hippocratic Oath, which guides physicians to measure each ethical situation against a benchmark: do right by the patient and do no harm to the profession.
