Part I: Nursing Laws

When nurses exceed their scope of practice, they violate their nursing license and may be performing tasks that are reserved by statute for another healthcare professional, such as a physician (Fremgen, 2012). Due to the shortage of nurses, their responsibilities are ever increasing, which may lead to actions that result in malpractice. However, nurses have not generally been involved in lawsuits for exceeding their scope of practice or violating their license, unless they also acted negligently (Fremgen, 2012).

Accordingly, by using the Internet resources, research your state's nursing laws and regulations. Based on the knowledge gained from your readings, respond to the following questions with examples:

When should a nurse question the actions of a doctor?

When can a nursing license be suspended or revoked?

Part II: Ethical Issues in Nursing

By using the Internet and the South University Online Library resources, review scholarly articles and respond to the following:

Identify and describe at least three critical ethical issues affecting today's nursing professionals.

As a health care professional, explain the ways you will address these issues.
