Assessment - Ethical issues associated with various technologies

Purpose: Apply appropriate business communication, research standards in writing reports and in the presentation of research.

Assignment Overview

Assignment 1 is a formative assessment and is divided into two parts to assist students in having a steady learning curve based on feedback received from submission and subsequent revisions.

Part 1 A of assignment 1 focuses on developing an annotated bibliography for the scenario you have selected for subsequent analysis. You need to use the template provided below for developing this annotated bibliography. 3 research sources (2 journal papers and 1 conference paper) need to be used for this assessment. Student should ensure that the research sources they have selected are published within the years (2017-2021). Students have to submit the first part by Week 3 due date mentioned in this document. This assessment will be marked by your respective tutor and constructive feedback will be provided to students to help improve their research process and subsequent analysis that will be conducted in Part 1B of this assessment.

1) Fog computing is becoming a promising computing paradigm that extends cloud computing functionalities. Discuss what factors will motivate businesses to adopt fog computing and what benefits can it deliver for those businesses. Use suitable examples.
2) Internet Scams are on the rise and vulnerable consumers need to be protected from these scammers. Discuss the most common types of scams targeting Australian consumers and the associated costs in relation to these scams in the Australian Economy.
3) Mobile Apps are increasingly becoming popular across all industry sectors. What are the key factors to consider when rating an Mobile App? You should use suitable specific example here and discuss.
4) Internet of Things (IOT) enabled device usage has significantly increased in Australia over the past few years. Discuss the key IOT enabled devices that are used in Smart Home network and their associated benefits.
5) Malware detection and analysis is a key area within cyber security domain. Please discuss what a malware is and some key tools that are available for cyber security professionals to detect malware and work towards mitigating these threats. Use suitable examples.

Part 1 B of the assessment will require you to conduct systematic analysis based on the scenario you have selected earlier and also incorporate the feedback you have been provided for Part 1A assessment. You need to clearly indicate how the feedback that was provided in Week 3 assessment was incorporated in Part 1B. For example, if the tutor has provided a comment that issues that you have selected have not been examined in the specific context clearly, then you need to address how this comment was addressed in the revised document PART 1B. It is your responsibility to clearly indicate this in Assignment 1B submission. Assignment 1B must be submitted by the due date in Week 7.
