Question: Analyze a weight loss diet plan of your choice. The diet plan you are going analyze is a plan that would be something that a consumer would access--a diet plan a patient would tell you they are going to use/try. The diet plan has to be one that is promoted as a weight loss plan. Search the web, look at what is out there for weight loss plans, then choose one to analyze.
Your analysis of the diet should include the following:
1) estimation of the number of calories that would be consumed in a day using the diet and where those calories come from (i.e. carbs, protein, fat)
2) your evaluation of whether an adult who is overweight will actually lose weight on the diet
3) nutritional soundness of the diet plan- is there evidence that individuals using the plan will take in sufficient micronutrients to meet their requirements
4) sustainability of the diet plan over time
5) does the diet plan address activity or energy expenditure
6) potential challenges and risks of the diet
7) what do you see as the role of the NP in a situation where your client is going to choose this diet
