Q1) The effect of eye - spot patterns on behaviour of moth - eating birds. Birds were tested in box with two chambers and were free to move from one chamber to another. In one chamber two large eye - spots were painted on one wall. Other chamber had plain wall. Researcher recorded amount of time each bird spent in plain chamber in a 60-minute session. Assume study produced mean of M = 37 minutes on plain chamber with SS = 288 for sample of n = 9 birds. (Note: If the eye spots have no effect, then birds must spend average of m = 30 minutes in each chamber.)

a) Is this sample enough to conclude that eye-spots have significant influence on birds' behaviour? Use two-tailed test with a = 0.05.

b) Calculate estimated Cohen's d to measure size of treatment effect.
