Two large conducting plates are connected to opposite poles of a 12-volt battery. The battery is disconnected and the distance between the plates is tripled without disturbing the charges on the plates. An electron is then released from rest at the negative plate and travels to the positive plate. What is the electron's speed when it reaches the positive plate?
