White dwarf stars are essentially plasmas of free electrons and free protons (hydrogen atoms that have been stripped of their electrons). Their densities are typically 5 × 109 kg/m3 (i.e., 106 times the average density of Earth). Their further collapse is prevented by the fact that the electrons are highly degenerate, that is, all the low-lying states are filled and no two identical electrons can be forced into the same state.
(a) Estimate the temperature of this system. (Assume nonrelativistic electrons and that p2 f /2m = (3/2)kT.)
(b) Now suppose that the gravity is so strong that the electrons are forced to combine with the protons, forming neutrons (with the release of a neutrino). If the temperature remains the same, what would be the density of this degenerate neutron star?
What is the energy efficiency of converting cow manure to biogas if it yields 25 m3 per Mg with the methane content of 55% (35 MJ/m3)?

Repeat your integrations for at least two other values of τ between 1 and 3 N-m, and find the value of θ at which the collar leaves the rod in each instance. Explain your findings.
air flows through a turbine airfoil passage in the shape of a converging-only nozzle with an exit cross-sectional area
Air at 14.7 psia, 50oF, and 60% relative humidity is first heated to 72 o F in a heating section and then humidified by introducing water vapor. The air leaves the humidifying section at 75oF and 55% relative humidity.
A two-story column ABC in a building is constructed with a hollow, square box section (see figure). The outside dimensions are 200 mm x 200 mm, and the wall thickness is 15 mm.
A power cycle operates between hot and cold reservoirs and 310 K, respectively. At steady state the cycle develops a power output of 0.1 MW. Determine the minimum theoretical rate at which energy is rejected by heat transfer to the cold reservoir, in..
