Question: A two-stage steam-turbine power plant with two-stages of regenerative feed water heating is being proposed for development. The design specifies one contact heater that receives extracted steam at a pressure of 150 psia from a HP turbine and a surface-type heater, complete with a drain cooler, that uses extracted steam at 50 psia. The turbine inlet conditions are 1250 psia and 850?F. The condenser working pressure is restricted to 3.5 in. Hg. abs. The turbine internal efficiency is 0.88 and the pump efficiency is 0.85.
