A merry-go-round in the park can be considered a circular disk of mass 100 kilogram and a radius of 2.0 meter. A person whose mass is 60 kilogram runs toward the merry-go-round in a direction that is tangent to its edge at a speed of 7.0 m/s. The merry-go-round is initially at rest. The person can be considered a point mass. I(disk) =½ MR2.
A. The person jumps on the edge of the merry-go-round. Estimate the resulting angular velocity of the merry-go-round?
B. The person then slowly walks toward the center of the merry-go-round, and stops 0.5 meter from the center. Estimate what is the resulting angular velocity?
C. A second person then steps up and stops the merry-go-round by applying a steady force tangentially to the rim for 20 second. Determine the resulting angular acceleration.
D. Determine how much force is required by the second person to stop the merry-go-round in this manner?
A sphere of radius R is uniformly charged to a total charge of Q. It is made to spin about an axis that passes through its center with an angular speed ω. Find the magnitude of the resulting magnetic field at the center of the sphere.
A resistor is in the shape of a cube, with each side of resistance R . Find the equivalent resistance between any two of its adjacent corners.
