An equimolar binary liquid mixture (comprised of components ‘1' and ‘2') is to be processed through a flash evaporator maintained at 10 bar and 3500K. The vapour stream leaving the flash vessel contains 60mol% of ‘1'. At the given flash temperature and pressure the following conditions hold. 1 2 1 2 1 For the vapour phase: ln ; For the liquid phase: 1.3012 Pure liquid phase fugacity: 8.0 E mix L G y y x x RT f bar ?

(i) Estimate the ratio of molar stream flow rates L/V exiting the flash chamber

(ii) Compute the pure liquid phase fugacity for component ‘2
