In the Millikan oil-drop experiment, an atomizer (a sprayer with afine nozzle) is used to introduce many tiny droplets of oil betweentwo oppositely charged parallel metal plates. Some of the dropletspick up one or more excess electrons. The charge on the plates isadjusted so that the electric force on the excess electrons exactlybalances the weight of the droplet. The idea is to look for adroplet that has the smallest electric force and assume that it hasonly one excess electron. This strategy lets the observer measurethe charge on the electron. Suppose we are using an electric fieldof 7.0 104 N/C. The charge on one electron isabout 1.6 10-19 C. Estimate the radius of an oil drop of density 839 kg/m3 for whichits weight could be balanced by the electric force of this field on one electron.
A freight company uses a compressed spring to shoot 1.7 kg packages up a 1m high frictionless ramp into a truck. The spring constant is 241 N/m and the spring is compressed 33 cm.
A 2.0 mL syringe has an inner diameter of 4.0 mm, the needle inner diameter of 0.21 mm, and a plunger pad diameter (where you place your finger) of 1.20 cm. A nurse uses the syringe to inject medicine into a patient whose blood pressure is 140/100. S..
One kilogram of dry air is warmed from 20ºC to 70ºC under a constant pressure of 1atm. Calculate the change in internal energy
One average force F1 has a magnitude that is three times as large as that of another force F2. Both forces produce the similar impulse. The average force F1 acts for a time interval of 1.77ms. for what time interval does the average force F2 act.
Two magnetic air pucks are approaching each other for a glancing blow. This time one of the pucks will have an additional mass (lead collar). estimate the mass of the collar if the mass of the puck itself is 0.199 kg and the mass of the second puck..

A 70 kg meteorite buries itself 5.5m into soft mud. The force between meteorite and the mud is given by F(x) = (680 N/m^3)x^3, where x is the depth in the mud. What was the speed of the meteorite when it firstly impacted the mud.
Satellite is in a circular orbit about the earth (ME = 5.98 1024 kg). The period of the satellite is 3.70 104 s. What is the speed at which satellite travels.
Blocks A and B are connected across a frictionless pulley by a cord of negligible weight. If block B lies on a horizontal, frictionless surface and block A hangs vertically, what can be said about the acceelration of block B?
Suppose that the separation between two speakers A and B is 4.40 m and the speakers are vibrating in-phase, What is the largest possible distance between speaker B and the observer,
What is the tangential acceleration of a bug on the rim of an 11.00 in.-diameter disk if the disk accelerates uniformly from rest to an angular speed of 79.03 rev/min in 3.60 s? One second after the bug starts from rest, what is its centripetal accel..
