Question: In 2014 it was reported a total of 244,258 motor vehicle collision (MVC) that resulted in 408 deaths. A group of epidemiologists from the Health Department decided to investigate the relationship among use of seat belt and deaths by MVC. They obtain a random sample of 100 surveys of adults' death by MVC. In these surveys it was documented the use of the seat beat. Amount them 40 were not using seat belt while 60 were using the seat belt. The researchers obtained a sample of 200 individuals involved in MVC but that survived the event. These individuals had similar conditions to the first 100 in terms of age, sex, vehicle sleep, and place of collision. From these 200 individuals, 50 were not using the seat belt, 150 yes.
a) What is the study design?
b) Estimate the best indicative of the association among adults involved in MVC who use the seat belt did not use the seat belt (we will consider not using the seat belt as the exposure).
c) Calculate the percentage of risk of death by MVC in the exposed and in the population that ca be attributable to the use of seat belt.
d) How many deaths by MCV in adults you can estimate that could be avoided by 2014
