A 1000 MW power plant (0.375 efficiency) uses a Central Appalachian coal (6.5 wt % ash content). Estimate the annual amount of limestone needed for FGD. Assume an 85% utilization of the limestone and that the plant meets NSPS. Next, determine the annual amount of sludge produced (from ash, unused limestone, generated gypsum, and water). The sludge is 63 wt% water.
