Estimate the amount of torque needed to actuate the knee near 0 deg flexion (standing position) based on the friction in the knee joint for a person of (a) 50Kg, (b) 75Kg, (c) 100Kg. Do this assuming both static loading (standing relatively still) and dynamic loading (walking), and comment on the differences. The effective cartilage cross-section area is 10 cm^2. [Hint: Find the normal stress in the cartilage to help determine the friction level.] r=2.5 cm.
