estimate the mass and volume of sludge produced from unreated wastewater without and with the use of ferric chloride for the enhanced removal of TSS. Also, estimate the amount of lime required for the specified ferric schloride dose. assume that 60% of the TSS is removed in the primary settling tank without the addition of chmicals, and that the addiction of ferric chloride results in an increased removal of TSS to 85%. also assume that the following data apply to this situation:
1- wastewater flowrate (m3/day) =10002- wastewater TSS (mg/L) = 2203- wastewater alkalinity as CaCO3 (mg/L) = 1364- Ferric chloride (FeCl3) added (kg/m3) = 0.045- raw sludge specific gravity = 1.036- raw sludge moisture content % = 94%7- Chemical sludge specific gravity = 1.058- chemical sludge moisture content = 92.5%
when ferric chloride is added to wastewater, the following reactions take place
2 FeCl3 + 3 Ca(HCO3)2 -> 2 Fe(OH)3 + 3 CaCl2 + 6 CO2
if lime is added to supplement the natural alkalinity of the wastewater, the following raection can be assumed to occur:
2 FeCl3 + 3 Ca(OH)2 -> 2 Fe(OH)3 + 3 CaCl2
A tire carries a 5,000-lb load and has a pressure of 100 psi. The pavement has a modulus of elasticity of 43,500 psi. A deflection of 0.016 inches is observed at a point on the pavement surface 0.8 inches away from the tire load.
Under these conditions flow is expected to be turbulent, but for a clean air, very smooth enterance (with guided vanes) to the tube and no tube vibration, it may be possible to maintain laminar flow.
Determine the magnitudes of the additional loads that must be applied at B and F if the resultant of all six loads is to pass through the center of the mat.
The elastic ball bounces down a flight of rigid stairs. Determine the height h of the steps if all the trajectories between successive steps are identical. Use e=0.85 and the initial velocity 6 m/s.neglect friction.(teta=70 degrees)
When you allow a can of carbonated beverage to sit open so that the carbon dioxide is released to the air, does the pH of beverage remain the same, increase, or decrease Why
What is the TCE concentration in ppm if the tank is held at (a) 4 degrees C and (b) 35 degrees C (c) What is the TCE concentration in ppm if the tank is filled with hexane instead of water
a rectangular reinforced concrete beam carries service loads on a span of 20 ft as shown. use f'c = 3000psi and fy = 60000 psi; b = 14.5 in, h = 26 in, and reinforcing is three number 10 bars.
The slope of the channel So=.15% and the Manning n=.038. Estimate the depth y2=100m upstream of a section where the flow depth y1=2.2m Using a) the direct integration method and b) the standard step method.
A lunar module weights 1500 kg on earth where g = 9.75 mps2. On the surface of the moon where g = 1.70 mps2, what will be the force in Newtons required to accelerate the module at 10 mps2?
velocities in a 200-mm-diameter circular conduit, measured at radii of 0,36,64, and 87 mm were 7.0, 6.8, 6.1, and 5.0 m/s, respectively. Find the approximate values (graphically) of the volume flow rate and the mean velocity.
If they pull themslevles along the the rope until they meet how far does each skater travel? B)If only the 45 kg skater pulls along the rope until she meets her friend( who just holds onto the rope) how far does each skater travel?
