Ines Inventor creates a new telecommunications device that she markets under her the brand name Alter Ego. The device combines the functionality of a telephone, video player, micro-tablet and portable game machine in a slim package about the size and weight of a credit card. Because the device utilizes a version of Linux, the open-source operating system, it can run a wide range of applications and can be offered at a reduced cost. Six months after its launch, the device, which is aggressively priced at $199, gives Ines a 90% share of the cellular phone market and transforms her startup company into a multi-billion-dollar behemoth that directly causes the demise of more than a dozen companies which cannot compete with the quality, features of price of her new product.
