However, in the area of combating forced labor and other forms of "modern slavery", the International Labour Organization (ILO) is making inroads to get nations to ratify a new legally-binding Protocol on Forced Labor, and to develop their own national action plans around the protocol. Countries who have adopted the forced labor protocol are also beginning to use acceptance of the protocol as a condition for long-term economic agreements with other nations, putting additional pressure on global adoption of the protocol.
