As I listened over President Woodrow Wilson's speech to congress, the way I would explain how he framed his speech started off with sincerity as he goes to explain how distressing the message was going to be for people to hear first. As his proposal would be to fight for the rights of democracy against Germany. President Wilson, then elaborates on the idea of going to war and what the people would have to sacrifice in order to gain the rights for democracy in America which he quoted, "But the right is more precious than peace, and we shall fight for the things which we have always carried nearest our hearts, for democracy, for the right of those who submit to authority to have a voice in their own Governments, for the rights and liberties of small nations, for a universal dominion of right by such a concert of free peoples as shall bring peace and safety to all nations and make the world itself at last free." By this statement, President Wilson meant that in order to have all these justi?cations and privilege then America must go to war and fight for these things. As he ended his speech, President Wilson then goes to propose his idea that America should go to war because he believed that in order to establish a great county for the future then the people must fight to gain the privilege to being the country that has power over democracy.
