You work for a company with approximately 500 employees, most of whom have been with the company for several years. You, as vice president, report to the CEO. The CEO has just returned from an empowerment conference and is extremely motivated to establish empowerment in your organization. Yes, she has been completely sold on the organizational benefits of employee empowerment and she wants you to implement an "empowerment program" right now, or at least as soon as possible. Your organization is a traditional hierarchal organization which has not seen much change, 480 operational employees report to 15 supervisors who report to 2 vice presidents of which you are one.

A) Is the CEO approaching this in a way that empowerment is likely to work? Why or why not?

B) Assuming that you were to embark on empowerment of your workforce, explain in step by step fashion what you would do.

C) What are likely some barriers to empowerment in this situation? Explain 2 of them and how you would overcome them.
