Address Self-awareness within the context of a clinical office visit as a family nurse practitioner.

It is essential to establish a therapeutic relationship with patients. One of the most valuable outcomes, or goals, for successful patient care is the recognition of one's own feelings, prejudices and biases in any situation, preventing these biases from altering care, along with the ability to manage our (and our patient's ) wellbeing.

It is this self-awareness that allows us to "be with" our patients in an open and authentic provider/patient relationship. Explain how to Establish this type of relationship is achieved through active listening, reflecting upon and validating each another. This is the foundation of a healing, therapeutic and trusting relationship.
