Exploratory Essay

This essay records the process of exploring a topic you would like to learn more about. You need a minimum of 3 sources. You can use first person "I" in this paper, since it is a narrative. This is not a typical paper in which you must stay focused on your point. In fact, it's better if you do end up far from where you began at the introduction, which is how research usually works.

Possible Approaches

I recommend choosing a topic which will benefit you beyond this class, such as your intended major or career. If you do not yet know either, then choose a topic in which you are interested and want to learn more about.

Recommended format:

Introduction: discuss why you're interested in the topic.
Body:
Brief summary of first source (at least a paragraph)
Reflection on what you thought as you engaged the source (at least a paragraph)
Summarize next source
Reflection
Repeat summary / reflection through at least 3 different sources
Conclusion: overview of what you learned through your research.
