Question: Topic of Essay Three The China Syndrome: Don't Decouple! (video & the essay)
The video makes a big point on the idea that whether you are the leader of a country or a citizen, you ought to try putting yourself into the shoes of the leader or citizens of the other country, when you are making decisions or forming opinions about how to treat that other one.
Doing this, putting yourself into the shoes of the other, according to the video, acting strategically, or even humanely, can be beneficial to everybody.
The alternative approach, however, is when governments and people act ideologically - that is, according the pre-conceived, deeply held opinions (or biases) they hold to be the absolute truth, according to which, the beliefs and ways of the other society of people are just too wrong to take seriously.
Cite and explain some examples from the video that support the argument that more good than harm comes from getting away from your personal ideology and, instead, trying to deal with what people in the other country might be thinking and feeling?
