You have to pick two policies to compare/contrast in this essay from a list of three policies. Clarify what the three policies are because two of them are rather broad:

2. Taxation: This could include direct poverty fighting taxation programs like the EITC or a small scale NIT, but could also include progressive taxation and redistribution in general or proposals like UBI or large scale NITs.

3. Welfare: This category has two subcategories: TANF/AFDC and other cash welfare programs, or in-kind transfer programs like Medicaid, food stamps, etc. (see the book for a complete list).

For the broader categories of welfare and taxation, you might focus on one aspect/part or you could try to stay at a broader level: it is up to you.
