Question

Susan Wolf wrote a well-known essay arguing against moral perfectionism. Among other things, she argued that a diversity of attitudes and lifestyles enriches the world whereas moral saints are monotonously serious; so a world of saints would be boring. This distaste for moral perfection might also explain Kohlberg's average adult stalling in the conformity phase, which may mean that most people don't really want to ascend above the normal level of morality. From your experience, would you say that most people want a world with some self-indulgence and maybe even a bit of corruption? Is Wolf right that many people are made uncomfortable by people who are "too good"?
