Assuming the role of Major Warren as the designated incident commander and principal planner for the DRNC there are two fundamental errors that are committed by policy makers. Major Warren has to make sure that everyone is on the same page when it comes to understating roles and positions. Also they must review the past reports to make sure that the data that was collected is not misinterpreted, there are no unconfirmed assumptions and we do not mirror image those of past failures (Jensen, 2012).

One error that could have been made by past organizations is the act of legitimately filling in gaps with reasonable inference about the truth (Jensen, 2012). In order to avoid this you will have to analyze all intelligence reports to ensure that all information is accurate and not based on the bias of the individual who has written the report. Once the information is gathered it must be managed to avoid any strategic surprises against any internal or external threats. There must also be some sort of tactical analysis which includes organized crimes that will focus on the interest groups who choose to disturb the convention (Steafen, 2012).

The most important aspect is to prepare for surprise and this is accomplished only by not mirroring past failures whether attributed to process or product. Aspects that were overlooked in the past must be characterized as wildcards and triggers for unexpected events (Jensen, 2012). One cannot be prepared for every obstacle but should be agile to respond so they are not caught off guard. When trying to determine a possible threat one should be able to determine the signs and what to do to counter the threats. Using these suggestions will help decrease fundamental errors from occurring in the process of planning the DRNC.
